VLAIO - M-ERA.NET CALL 2023

What?

M-ERA.NET supports ambitious, transnational RTD projects on material research and innovation including materials for batteries and low-carbon energy technologies.

The Call 2023 includes the following thematic areas:

• Sustainable advanced materials for energy
• Innovative surfaces, coatings and interfaces
• High-performance composites
• Functional materials
• Advanced materials and technologies for health applications
• Next-generation materials for advanced electronics

VLAIO provides a budget of 1 million euros for the financing of the Flemish share of M-ERA.NET projects. The support channels for research and development projects are used for this. The maximum support for Flemish participation in an M-ERA.NET project is limited to 500,000 euros.

Funding rates are 50-60%, depending on the type of R&D. For projects including both a Flemish company and a Flemish university, this can go up to a maximum of 70% for basic research and 60% for development.

Who?

An M-ERA.NET project consortium consists of at least 3 partners from three different countries or regions (at least 2 EU member states or associated countries). Typically, small to medium-sized consortia (3-5 partners on average per proposal) are expected.
For each country or region, specific criteria apply. At least 1 Flemish company needs to participate on the Flemish side of the M-ERA.NET project in order for UHasselt to be able to join the consortium.

Application?

The project leader of the international M-ERA.NET-project should submit the pre-proposal with M-ERA.NET by the 16th of June 2023, at 12:00. Additionally, a Flemish participant has to fill in a Flemish application for VLAIO. Select 'international project' and download the appropriate template. This needs to be submitted by the 16th of June 2023, at 12:00 as well.

The deadline for the full proposal is the 21st of November 2023, at 12:00.
