Federale Overheidsdienst

What?

With this second call for projects, "BELGIUM BUILDS BACK CIRCULAR" or BBBC, initiated by Ministers Zakia Khattabi and Pierre-Yves Dermagne, the federal government aims to stimulate innovation among Belgian actors, create opportunities for circular investments and support the transition to a circular economy in Belgium.

Within this call, there are 2 pillars:
1) Ecodesign: aims to reduce the environmental and health impacts of products and materials throughout their life cycle. It aims to rethink the design of a product to make its production and reuse safer, extend its lifetime and facilitate repair, dismantling and recycling. This pillar comprises four priority themes:
The financial support per project for this pillar amounts to a minimum of 100,000 euros and a maximum of 1,000,000 euros.

2) Substitution: this pillar focuses on projects that substitute the most harmful substances, i.e. substances classified as such by the CLP regulation.
Substitution of the most harmful substances is interpreted broadly and includes projects to bring chemicals, technologies and/or alternative substances onto the market that eliminate the use of the most harmful substances or the presence of the most harmful substances in a product. The proposed alternatives must also enhance the circularity and safety of the production process or product.
More information on the topic of "substitution" on the website of the FPS Economy.

The financial support per project for this pillar amounts to a minimum of 250,000 euros and a maximum of 2,000,000 euros.
