Stichting tegen Kanker
What?
Every two years, Stichting tegen Kanker launches a project call for Fundamental, Translational and Clinical Cancer Research.
Fundamental Research: The project should contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms of how cancer progresses to unlock new ways to prevent, detect and treat it. Its scientific value should be of the highest quality, with original objectives and approaches. Projects submitted by single applicants should be a major part of their research work.
Project duration: two to four years
Budget: € 300 000 for a 2 years project, € 450 000 for a 3 years project, € 600 000 for a 4 years project (all amounts are VAT inclusive)
Translational Research: The project should offer clear prospects for the transfer of results from Fundamental Research to Clinical Research or from Clinical Research to Fundamental Research with the objective of improving diagnosis and/or treatment of cancer. Its scientific merit should be of the highest quality. Its objectives and approach should be original. It should be the major research project of the researcher and his/her team.
Project duration: one to four years
Budget: € 150 000 for a 1 year project, € 300 000 for a 2 years project, € 450 000 for a 3 years project, € 600 000 for a 4 years project (all amounts are VAT inclusive)
Clinical Research: The project should offer clear prospects for the improvement of diagnosis and/or treatment of cancer. Its scientific merit should be of the highest quality. Its object and approach should be original. It should be a major research project of the researcher and his/her team.
Project duration: one to four years
Budget: € 150 000 for a 1 year project, € 300 000 for a 2 years project, € 450 000 for a 3 years project, € 600 000 for a 4 years project (all amounts are VAT inclusive)
The same project cannot be submitted simultaneously for a Fundamental Research Grant and for a Translational & Clinical Research Grant. An applicant or co-applicant is allowed to submit only one project.
It is not authorized to withdraw overheads (indirect costs such as rents for labs or offices, access to scientific journals and databases, general administration costs, ...) from the funds granted by the Stichting tegen Kanker.
Who?
An applicant or co-applicant is required to hold a permanent postdoctoral position, i.e. to be a permanent research worker holding a PhD in a research institute or a university, with scientific and financial autonomy. Take into account that according to UHasselt regulations, a ZAP member needs to be appointed to overview the research.
The research needs to be conducted in Belgium without direct commercial purpose.
