What?

M-ERA.NET 3, the European and international network for research and innovation on materials and battery technologies, has launched the Call 2024.

35 national and regional funding organisations from 28 countries, across Europe and beyond are participating in that call with an indicative total budget of more than 35 Million €.

The aim is to fund ambitious transnational RTD projects addressing materials research and innovation supporting the European Green Deal and the United Nations's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The Call 2024 includes the following thematic areas:

• Sustainable advanced materials for energy
• Innovative surfaces, coatings and interfaces
• High performance composites
• Functional materials
• Materials addressing environmental challenges
• Next generation materials for advanced electronics

The objective of the M-ERA.NET Call 2024 is to enable transnational R&D projects between partners receiving funding from regional/national programmes.
Companies based in Flanders can apply for grant funding via VLAIO via a development project or a research project.
Only companies with (future) economical added value in Flanders can submit proposals (large companies and SME’s). Universities or research institutes can only participate as subcontractor (or research partner) to a Flanders based company. Foreign companies only as subcontractor without own exploitation.

A stand alone participation of only a research group from a university or research institute without a (co-financing) Flemish company is not eligible.

VLAIO budget for this call: 1 mio euro. The total funding given to all participating partners from Flanders together in a project should not exceed 500.000 euro. 
Maximum project duration is 36 months.

Who?

Project consortia must consist of at least 3 partners (all requesting funding from a funding organisation listed in Annex 3) from at least 3 different countries (at least 2 EU member state or associated country6) participating in the M-ERA.NET Call 2024.

Application?

2 step procedure:

Deadline pre-proposals: 14 May 2024, 12:00

Deadline full proposals: 20 November 2024, 12:00

Submitting for the 2 steps has to be done simultaneously to M-ERA.NET via the mandatory Pre-Proposal form
and to VLAIO. You can find the VLAIO regulations for a development project here or a research project here.

Only OBI is allowed to submit the part for the "kennisinstelling" in the VLAIO portal, as they have a mandate to do so.
