What?

The Baillet Latour Biomedical Award - Supporting Research Careers in Belgium is conceived as an incentive for the research development of young talented scientists. This award is intended to help them pursue or consolidate their innovative and ground breaking biomedical research projects in Belgium. 

The topic of the 2026 award is the Metabolism & Gastrointestinal System.

The award amounts to 1.000.000 € over a period of 5 years.

The research project must be conducted in Belgium and pertain to basic, translational, or clinical biomedical research.

Who?

Independent investigators of any nationality in the early phase of their career to conduct biomedical research in Belgium and to consolidate their independent research team and program.
  • Applicants must hold a PhD degree awarded no more than 12 years prior to the deadline for applications i.e., 15 September 2013 (extension possible in case of eligible career break). 
  • Applicants must be affiliated to a Belgian University, a Belgian University Hospital or an eligible Belgian Research Institute (see regulations).
  • Applicants must be full-time affiliated to their Institution until at least 30 June 2031.

Applications, written in English and using the application form on the website, must be submitted electronically by September 15, 2025 at the latest using the online application system available on the web platform www.blba.be.
