We kindly invite you to join the ‘Meet the Jury’ seminar, featuring an international speaker to discuss their research on 'Wearables for kidney patients: quid, quantum, quality'

This seminar will be given by:

  • Prof. David Keane (University of Galway)

David Keane trained as a Medical Physicist, specialising in Nuclear Medicine and Physiological Measurement, and worked as a registered Clinical Scientist in the UK NHS for 15 years. The majority of this time was spent providing specialist scientific support to the Department of Renal Medicine, with a particular focus on managing fluid status in haemodialysis. During this time, David developed a Clinical Academic career and was awarded two personal fellowships from the National Institute for Health Research (Doctoral Fellowship award [2013-2016] and Integrated Clinical Academic Clinical Lectureship [2018-2021]). In 2022, David moved to University of Galway to work with the translational support pillar of CÚRAM Research Ireland centre for medical devices, with a focus on clinical trial design for novel medical devices, while developing his independent programme of research.

David has been Principal Investigator for a broad range of research studies, including epidemiology, device development, qualitative research and interventional clinical trials. His primary interests are clinical investigations of medical devices, haemodialysis and clinical trial design. He is currently funded through HRB, NIHR and the EU Transforming Health and Care Systems Cofund programme.
