Fintra and the finances of a PhD is a workshop designed to help doctoral researchers confidently navigate the financial side of their PhD. Delivered by Karolien Broux, the workshop offers a hands-on introduction to Fintra (the university’s tool for requesting work trips, submitting expense claims, and managing reimbursements), while also clarifying key procedures, budgeting basics, and common pitfalls. Participants will leave with the knowledge to handle their PhD finances efficiently and stress-free.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • use Fintra for requesting work trips, submitting expense claims and managing reimbursements,
  • understand the key financial procedures and basic budgeting principles applicable to their PhD trajectory, and
  • recognise common administrative and financial pitfalls in order to manage their PhD-related finances in an efficient and compliant manner.
