How to manage my data plan in 10 ways is a 2-hour session delivered by the Research Data Management (RDM) Team of UHasselt. The session will introduce practical approaches to creating and managing a data management plan, in accordance with particular grant guidelines, with a specific focus on the characteristics of legal research data. Special attention is given to the use of publicly accessible sources: particularly case law such as judgments and rulings, which are by definition publicly pronounced. The session is tailored to the needs and realities of classical legal research. All doctoral researchers must present a fully formed and up-to-date Data Management Plan by the end of their PhD trajectory, making this workshop not to be missed!

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • develop and update a Data Management Plan in accordance with applicable grant guidelines,
  • understand the specific characteristics of legal research data,
  • appropriately manage publicly accessible legal sources such as case law and judicial decisions within a data management framework, and
  • apply practical data management strategies tailored to the needs and realities of classical legal research throughout their PhD trajectory.
