PhD pitch 'Law, responsibility, and sustainability in an interdependent world”, a pitch organised within the framework of UHasselt’s civic university mission. This session aims to provide doctoral researchers with an opportunity to present their research projects, exchange ideas with peers and discussants, and reflect on the broader societal relevance of their work. Acting as moderators and discussants are dr. Loth Vanderauwermeulen and prof. dr. Marie Decock. The workshop invites doctoral researchers from all legal fields to consider how their research engages with questions of responsibility, interdependence, and long-term impact, both locally and globally. Participants will be invited to briefly present their doctoral research, focusing on: the core research question(s), the legal and societal relevance of their project, and how their research relates, directly or indirectly, to the theme of sustainability and UHasselt’s civic identity. The PhD Pitch closes with a delicious lunch.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will:

  • be able to present the core research question(s) of their doctoral project in a concise manner,
  • articulate the legal and societal relevance of their research,
