If you encounter a problem when logging into the new student portal, check below the most common issues and how to solve them.
Are you a new student @ UHasselt?
You will receive a mail to activate your account. Please check also your spam folder!
General login tips:
- Always use your UHasselt email address
Log in with your email in the format firstname.lastname@student.uhasselt.be, not your student number.
- Forgot your password or getting an error?
Go to https://recovery.uhasselt.be to reset your password. Here you use your student number.
- Prompt to "Sign in with a different account"?
Do you have multiple Microsoft accounts (e.g. a personal Outlook or Hotmail account)?
Click “Sign in with a different account” and enter your UHasselt login details again.
- Use an incognito/private window
Your browser may still be signed in with a personal Microsoft account that shares the same email alias.
- First, sign out at https://live.com.
- Then open a private or incognito window and try logging in to the student portal again.
Two Microsoft accounts linked to the same email address?
It’s possible that two separate Microsoft accounts are linked to your UHasselt email address:
- A work or school account (UHasselt – correct)
- A personal Microsoft account (live.com – may cause login issues)
How to check:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com
- If you are asked to choose between accounts, select:
- Work or school account (with UHasselt badge) → correct
- Personal Microsoft account → do not use for the student portal
