The ECEM group conducts experimental and modeling research on the impact of environmental change on biogeochemical cycles in terrestrial ecosystems, from local to global scales, and develops microbiome-based methods to mitigate this impact. The group’s research covers topics such as microbial ecology, mycorrhiza, carbon and nitrogen cycles, bioremediation, and micromaterials. The group manages the state-of-the-art research facilities Macroscale Ecotron, RAU Ecotron, and Mycotron, which are part of the international research infrastructures AnaEE ERIC/AnaEE Belgium.
