Plant Abiotic Stress Biology

The PAS research group studies the impact of abiotic stress factors (including pollution and climate change) on plant growth and development. We investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying stress acclimation and adaptation, with a strong focus on redox-related processes. To this end, we employ a combination of molecular, biochemical, and physiological analyses in both model organisms and crops. Furthermore, the research group studies how biomass residues can be used to enhance the stress tolerance, yield, and quality of crops within the context of a circular economy and sustainable agriculture.
