Title

Brain plasticity for healthy aging: enhancing motor, and cognitive functions by motor training and noninvasive brain stimulation (NIBS). (Research)

Abstract

Memory functions, flexibility for multi-tasking, decision making and motor functions are crucial cognitive and sensorimotor processes for active living that decline substantially in healthy aging. Nonetheless, the aging brain and its functions still maintain a certain extent of plasticity and may positively adapt to environmental enrichment in the forms of cognitive training and non-invasive electrical and magnetic brain stimulations. The goal of this BOF BILA is is to further strengthen the structural cooperation between Hasselt University and the Leibniz Research Centre in Dortmund. This project aims to optimize age appropriate protocols for electrical brain stimulation as well as trainings of memory functions, decision making, motor functions for healthy older adults.
