Project R-8279

Title

Chemical synthesis of inorganic composite solid electrolytes with enhanced ionic conductivity by interfacial Li+ ion diffusion (Research)

Abstract

In this project we develop a novel solid inorganic composite electrolyte with high ionic conductivity and aim to gain an understanding thereof. In literature, these composite electrolytes typically consist of an ion-conducting ionic liquid impregnated within a porous silica matrix. Recently, systems similar in properties to ionic liquids but consisting of inexpensive and more abundant components have been described in literature. However no systematic investigations for solid inorganic composite electrolytes have been undertaken with these systems. So far a functional Li-ion battery demonstrator has been built based on the conducted research. Further investigations will be carried out to optimize these electrolytes and obtain the design principles.
