This is a joint project with professor Grajzl on sentencing in sexual assault cases adjudicated in Belgian courts. We examine the extent of gender in-group bias (preferential treatment of those with the same gender). Although racial in-group bias in the context of criminal courts has been researched, empirical research on gender in-group bias remains scarce and non-existent in the European context.
