The synthesis, characterization and application of advanced functional materials. (Research)

The research group Material Chemistry (MATCHEM) focuses on the synthesis, characterization and application of advanced functional materials. The research group includes several subgroups with specific and complementary expertise, which closely cooperate and operate within the spearhead domains of the Institute for Materials Research (IMO) of Hasselt University. Moreover, the MATCHEM research group is affiliated with the IMEC associated laboratory "imomec". The main activities are focused on * new materials for energy generation and storage; * life sciences materials; * materials obtained from waste recycling. The research group regularly acts as a partner in various European, Flemish, national and international research programs and networks and has a long tradition of joint research and service provision with industry and research centers.
