SOL-GEL SYNTHESIS OF MULTIFUNCTIONAL TITANATES, STANNATES, ZIRCONATES, HAFNATES. INVESTIGATION OF OPTICAL AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES. (Research)

Abstract

The multimetal oxide materials that are investigated, alkaline earth titanates, stannates, zirconates and hafnates, as well as their lanthanide doped variants, show interesting luminescent and specific dielectric properties, which lead to applications in flat-panel displays and microwave frequency communication devices. These materials will be prepared by different soft-chemical synthesis routes, such as hydrolysis-condensation of inorganic precursors (sol-gel) or by hydrothermal reactions, as phase pure conventional ánd nanosized ceramics. Deposition of thin films onto appropriate substrates will be carried out as well starting from the chemical precursors designed in the research. The material and functional properties, such as particle size, crystalline phase, morphology, surface roughness, optical and electrical properties will be characterized and optimized through control over the synthesis method and deposition conditions.
