Project R-12492

Title

The seroprevalence of HCV in psychiatry (Research)

Abstract

Recent data suggest that Belgium will meet the World Health Organization's goals of eliminating HCV by 2030 if sustained efforts are made. However, general screening has proven to be poorly cost-effective, and in recent years micro-elimination has been used to reach specific risk groups (injecting drug users, prisoners, ...). In addition, international and unpublished national research shows that there is an increased prevalence of HCV in psychiatric centers. The goal of this project is to determine the prevalence of hepatitis C viral infection in a psychiatric center.
