Title
Crime and Organizations (Research)
Abstract
The research project investigates which firms employ individuals with a criminal background, and how the employment of such individuals in higher and lower organizational echelons affects the strategic decisions and the performance of firms. We test our hypotheses using a unique panel dataset (2000-2020) containing information on the criminal records of all individuals working in the population of firms in the Netherlands. Our project will contribute to the literature streams on economics of crime and corporate strategy by developing a better understanding of the consequences of crime for organizations
