Title
Commissioning and sustainable exploitation of the upgraded DUBBLE beamlines at the ESRF: Studying the structure and function of matter at the world's most powerful synchrotron (Research)
Abstract
DUBBLE (Dual Belgian Beamlines) is a research facility at the ESRF (European Synchrotron Radiation Facility), the most powerful x-ray source in the world and a centre of excellence for fundamental and innovation-supporting research, located in Grenoble (France). The DUBBLE facility offers the possibility for SAXS/WAXS (small/wide angle x-ray spectroscopy) to determine the crystalline order at multiple length scales and for XAFS (x ray absorption spectroscopy) to investigate the atomic geometry and chemical structure locally within materials. The DUBBLE consortium operates on these facilities and ensures that they remain up to date to allow the Flemish research community and many international users to use this infrastructure for top research on materials. In this 2-year project, new techniques will be explored, the user group will be expanded, and a new operating scenario will be prepared with a view to a sustainable future for the facility.
