Via the Body. Expressions of the human condition through the body in contemporary jewelry art and sculpture. (Research)

This research into possibilities of contemporary jewelry art and sculpture, explores expressions through the human body for challenges confronting us in contemporary Western society. The aim is to develop an artistic body of work that creates possibilities and opportunities to address challenges and problems concerning our mentalities and society, in order to evoke critical and collective thought and discussion. Therefore the status of the human body in our society and the body┌s response to corporeal representations are examined by means of artistic work based on the (de-)forming of the human body. Using jewelry art and sculpture intensifies this confrontation through diversity in material, scale and wearability.
