Title
Next generation circular thermoplastic elastomers. (Research)
Abstract
The global plastic pollution crisis demands more responsible manufacturing and end-of-life practices for the plastics industry. Plastics are routinely manufactured from virgin raw materials from fossil resources, and nearly all commodity materials are non-degradable. The innovative objective is to develop thermoplastic elastomers with wide-ranging mechanical properties made exclusively from renewable and/or post-consumer recycled building blocks. After the useful lifetime, the molecular design of the materials will ensure a responsible end-of-life – they will combine recyclability with non-persistency.
