Effect of multiple recycling on the properties of polyolefin films (MultiRec) (Research)

MultiRec aims to systematically investigate and understand the material changes in polyethylene (PE) resulting from multiple mechanical recycling cycles and varying levels of recycled content. The project focuses on an application-driven evaluation of these material changes and their impact on critical processing properties, including sealing performance, film extrusion (both blown and cast), as well as the material's stretch and shrink behavior. Based on these insights, the project will develop guidelines for the optimal use of recycled content. These guidelines will be supported by a detailed dataset of material properties of recycled polyethylene, taking into account both the number of recycling cycles and the level of recycled content, as well as the material's processability in specific applications.
