mRNA-LNP vaccination to restore immune tolerance in autoimmune diseases. (Research)
Abstract
Autoimmune diseases are characterized by loss-of-tolerance, unleashing self-reactive immune cells to damage its own body. This leads to chronic inflammation with symptoms affecting patients' quality of life. Restoring tolerance has been the main therapeutic strategy for years, but is correlated with side effects due to their general approach. In this study, we want to induce tolerance in a disease-specific manner using mRNA-LNP vaccination.
