Title

Quality indicators for inter- and multidisciplinary rehabilitation (Research)

Abstract

A cornerstone of enhancing inter- and multidisciplinary rehabilitation involves the combination of evidence-based practice and evidencebased implementation. To evaluate the success of implementation, it is imperative to identify and select relevant quality indicators for rehabilitation. Quality indicators provide insight into the quality of care based on the performance data of health care professionals. Measurement through quality indicators is crucial to determine actual care and to identify important gaps in performance. In addition, quality indicators contribute to quality improvement strategies by monitoring progressions made by improvements and assessing the outcomes of strategies. Although, quality indicators specifically tailored for rehabilitation are currently lacking and therefore the field is missing the initial step in stimulating improvements. Hence, the main objective of this PhD project is to develop a core set of quality indicators for inter- and multidisciplinary rehabilitation. The development of these quality indicators will adhere to one of the evidence-based development methods described by Davies et al, Campbell et al, and Kötter et al.
