Title

Digital Vigilance: Identifying Network Interference Using a Holistic Approach (Research)

Abstract

In today's digital era, ensuring the integrity of network communications is imperative for fostering an open and secure Internet environment. This research project focuses on detecting network interference – the intentional manipulation or disruption of network communication – through data aggregation. Building upon a holistic approach, which considers diverse data sources and enables root cause analysis, the project aims to help understand causes and mitigations for interference events. The proposed automated interference detection system aims to effectively identify and classify various interference events by leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning or statistical models. Emphasizing intelligibility, the system provides actionable insights with transparent decision-making processes, allowing for human verification and aiding model refinement. Integrating multiple testing methods enhances robustness, while deep inspections facilitate pinpointing the causes of interference, contributing to developing a more resilient network. The project aims to contribute to the broader community's efforts toward an open and secure Internet.
