Algorithms for emerging vehicle routing problems (Research)
Abstract
This PhD thesis explores the development and application of heuristic algorithms to solve emerging vehicle routing problems (VRPs) in the context of modern transportation technologies, including for example electric vehicles (EVs), drones, and delivery robots. These next-generation VRPs introduce new complexities such as battery constraints, charging infrastructure, and synchronization aspects, requiring innovative solutions beyond traditional methods. The research focuses on designing efficient heuristics tailored to the unique constraints and operational requirements of these technologies.
