Title
LipiBRIGHT - Lipids as promising BRidge between novel disease InsiGHts and improved Tackling of disease (Research)
Abstract
Recent insights revealed new decisive roles for lipids in cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, cancer, and chronic inflammation. Yet, the lipid field remained long underexplored due to its complexity and previously inadequate technologies to advance the field. Through unique interdisciplinary cooperation across these four disease fields and synergistically combining insights and technologies, LipiBRIGHT overcomes this hurdle. In complementary projects studying lipid mediators in cardiovascular disease, chronic inflammation, chronic kidney disease, and cancer, young scientists in LipiBRIGHT will be trained to advance insights into lipid contribution to disease processes, improve lipid detection technology and study the impact of lipid therapeutic targeting and application, with the aim to speed up understanding of these four lipid-associated disease fields and knowledge translation into novel strategies for disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
