SEABREEZE: South East Asia Biostatistics Research and Education Empowerment for Zonal Excellence (Education)

This project aims to enhance health and environmental conditions in Southeast Asia by establishing biostatisticsmaster's and PhD programs in the Philippines and Indonesia. It addresses the local demand for biostatisticians totackle public health issues like Dengue and environmental challenges such as degradation. The project, aligningwith Agenda 2030 and SDGs, focuses on inclusive education and research, promoting multi-stakeholderpartnerships between universities and government organisations. Key activities include training 5 PhD studentsfrom partner universities, organising workshops, and facilitating academic exchanges. Outcomes includedisseminating scientific findings to vulnerable people, awarding joint PhD degrees, and launching the BiostatisticsInterest Group for Southeast Asia (BIGSEA), which links to global biometrics communities. The project fosters bothmulti-institutional and non-academic collaborations, enhancing data transfer and stakeholder engagement.
