LARA: Limburg AI Research Accelerator. (Research)

LARA, the Limburg AI Research Accelerator, aims to make artificial intelligence more accessible to companies, researchers and public-sector actors in Limburg. The project establishes a locally embedded GPU cluster for high-performance AI applications, with a particular focus on low-latency processing, shared use, secure data handling and applications requiring real-time responsiveness. The infrastructure is combined with guidance, demonstrations, training and visualisation facilities, ensuring that organisations not only gain access to computing power, but are also supported in translating AI concepts into concrete applications. LARA targets sectors such as manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, construction and mobility, and aims to contribute to digitalisation, innovation, knowledge development and the economic strengthening of the Limburg ecosystem. The project is led by Hasselt University, in collaboration with Corda Campus, Cegeka and Androme.
