Title

PRISM Lab – Psychophysiological Research on Interactions in Symptom Mechanisms. (Research)

Abstract

The PRISM Lab is a new research technology platform designed to enhance our understanding of how the body and mind interact in health and disease. Many conditions, such as chronic pain, fatigue, tinnitus, anxiety, and breathing difficulties, involve a complex mix of physical, emotional, and sensory processes. However, there is a lack of the right tools to study these interactions in a controlled way at REVAL. To fill this gap, PRISM Lab will provide a specialized research space that is soundproof and temperature-controlled, equipped with advanced monitoring technology to measure diverse psychophysiological responses, as well as tools to safely trigger and study symptoms. This setup will help researchers better understand how symptoms develop, how different treatments can impact the processes underlying them, and how to prevent and improve them. By bringing together experts from rehabilitation sciences, psychology, neuroscience, and movement sciences, the PRISM Lab has the potential to generate a profound mechanistic understanding that can be effectively translated into evidence-based solutions with direct clinical impact.
