Title
Liquid metal-based strain sensor for fruit monitoring (Research)
Abstract
This project explores the valorisation of a liquid metal-based strain sensor designed to continuously and reliably monitor fruit diameter. Initial field tests on pear trees demonstrate higher accuracy and efficiency compared to existing methods, offering substantial time and cost savings for growers. The IOF CONCEPT-project will map the entire value chain of companies needed to collaborate to bring the sensor to the market, and assess whether production and market introduction should proceed via a spin-off or through licensing. In parallel, a broader market exploration will identify additional application domains for liquid metal-based stretchable electronics, paving the way for sustainable commercialization and wider use in agriculture and beyond.
