Title
ReTrace: Establishing the Adaptive Reuse Alumni Network (Education)
Abstract
In September 2026, the Master of Interior Architecture: Adaptive Reuse will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a hybrid alumni event bringing together graduates from the past decade. Since its launch in 2016–2017, the programme has educated approximately 135 students from over 40 countries, forming a diverse international network of professionals active in adaptive reuse worldwide. The anniversary event will serve as a moment of reflection on the programme's academic, professional, and personal impact, while also marking the foundation of a sustainable alumni network.
The project aims to strengthen long-term alumni engagement by updating the alumni database, gaining insight into career trajectories, and collecting feedback to inform future curriculum development. It will create a platform for dialogue on adaptive reuse, sustainability, and the transformation of existing buildings, while facilitating knowledge exchange between research, practice, and society. By fostering networking and collaboration opportunities and by integrating international graduates into broader alumni activities, the initiative seeks to reinforce the programme's academic, professional, and societal relevance for the future.
The project will result in academic and public outputs, including curated publications and openly accessible digital content that document the event's discussions and insights. These outputs will ensure long-term visibility of the programme's impact and contribute to knowledge exchange on adaptive reuse within and beyond the university.
