Title

Assessment of vehicle roadworthiness as determinant of road safety for sustainable logistics and transportation in Tanzania via telematics, and evaluation of vehicle roadworthy education. (Research)

Abstract

Road traffic deaths and injuries remain a major global health and development challenge with a high rate of injury and fatalities in Africa region (Global Status Report on Road Safety, 2023). Despite of government efforts on improving road infrastructures, regulatory reforms aimed for the vehicle roadworthy and traffic enforcement but still road safety outcomes remain unsatisfactory which in turn hinders sustainability of logistics and transportation and public safety. This study aims to explore how the vehicle roadworthy contribute in road safety for sustainable logistics and transportation in Tanzania focusing on the maintenance management practices and the application of technology in monitoring fleet operations. The study will investigate how the integrating of digital technology e-learning and vehicle telematics technology improves road safety through managing and controlling vehicle roadworthy. Specific objectives: - To assess the impact of vehicle maintenance management practice, and drivers driving behavior on traffic safety, taking into account variables like gender diversity. - To develop and evaluate e-learning integrating vehicle inspection, maintenance management, driving behaviour and the application of vehicle telematics to drivers and transport officers/fleet managers. - To provide recommendations on a set of the corresponding proper vehicle maintenance management practices and technological development.
