Title

Three dimensional modelling of masonry walls incorporating time dependent behaviour (Research)

Abstract

The objective of this research project is to develop a three dimensional model for masonry, taking into account mechanical and thermal loading. In a first stage, the thermal behaviour will be decoupled from the mechanical behaviour, assuming that deforming and damaging the structure does not influence the heat conduction problem. In that case, the results of the thermal analysis is used as boundary condition in the mechanical problem. In a second stage, interaction between mechanical an thermal loading is studied and a fully coupled analysis is performed predicting deformation and damage accumulation in the structure as a function of time.
