Title
Green spaces, air pollution and cardiovascular health (Research)
Abstract
Exposure to air pollution and green space has an effect on cardiovascular health. Epidemiological research has found a relationship between exposure to air pollution and the development and progression of cardiovascular diseases. Exposure to green space has a positive (cardiovascular) health effect, but the mechanisms behind it remain unclear. The cardiovascular health will be investigated using the microcirculation, the smallest blood vessels in the human body. These vessels display the first changes which might lead to cardiovascular disease development or progression. During this PhD, we want to find which health effect has the upper hand in a (healthy) population, exposed to air pollution and green spaces.
