Project R-3990

Title

Extension IOF mandate Inge Smolders (Research)

Abstract

This is a renewal of a mandate, in which the IOF mandate is completed through the position of Business Developer of BIOMED. In the original application, the following objectives were defined: To promote and support the valorisation of the research activities of BIOMED through: - Acquisition of new intellectual property - To strengthen and expand the contract research and services to the life sciences industry, - New license agreements and spin-offs based on IP of the Institute - To promote and enhance the life sciences economic development in our region. Through the efforts of the IOF mandate, the last 5 years BIOMED can significantly bet on the above mentioned valorization activities, in addition to the strong expansion of the basic biomedical research. The IOF representative played a key role in the essential activities through coordination, steering and proactive guidance. For one thing BIOMED wants to consolidate the valorization activities and for another thing to further develop, broaden and deepen the valorization activities. This approach is embedded in the new strategic plan of BIOMED (in development). The new strategy will focus primarily on additional research areas and strengthening of the biomedical translational research.
