Prof. dr. Marie MOORS

About Me

Marie Moors works as Assistant Professor at Hasselt University's Faculty of Architecture and Arts, teaching design studio and cultural science courses. She is part of the Adaptive Reuse Research Group TRACE. She finished her PhD —funded by the Research Foundation Flanders— "The Ensemble Unveiled - Research by Design in Adaptive Reuse" in 2024. Besides, she is the secretary of DOCOMOMO Belgium, the Belgian committee of DOCOMOMO International which focuses on the DOcumentation and COnservation of buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of MOdern MOvement.

She studied Architecture at Hasselt University from 2012 until 2017. In 2015, she did an Erasmus stay in Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Architecture de Saint Etienne, France. With her master project and supporting thesis —which deals with a strip of land at the Belgium coast site and the integration of several protected monuments within this zone— she obtained an honourable mention for the 27th Euregional Prize for Architecture, the selection of the shortlist of the European Architectural Medals Best Diploma Projects, the first mention of the Vanhove Price UPA-BUA 2017, runner-up for the Vectorworks Design Competition Benelux Architecture 2019 and she ended up with the eight finalists of the Young Talent Architecture Award by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe. As a result, her project was exhibited at the Biennale Architettura 2018 in Venice. Marie finished her architectural internship at the office TeamvanMeer! in Hasselt and Architectenbureau Bart Moors in Lummen.
