Researcher statistical consultancy

Your function

DSI’s consultancy unit is seeking an enthusiastic collaborator to join their team. Our consultancy unit provides short- and long-term advice and support to academic partners, industry and governmental organizations. Project topics encompass various domains, including data management, data processing, data engineering, statistics in preclinical and clinical development, public health, human/veterinary epidemiology, food safety, statistical bioinformatics and statistical genetics, environmental studies, design of experiments to optimize industrial processes, as well as data science training and education.

What does the job look like?

  • You will perform data analyses for different consultancy projects, for internal, national and international clients active in different domains (e.g. data science, biostatistics, epidemiology, and bioinformatics).
  • You provide support to projects, assisting in data processing, optimal study design, AI and machine learning tasks, statistical analyses, result interpretation and scientific communication.
  • You contribute to consultancy projects, ensuring the quality of the services, maintaining a good and effective communication with the clients, and delivering results in time.
  • You will be part of a team of consultants at DSI with whom you will collaborate on specific projects, and share best practices.

The Data Science Institute (est. 2019) brings together over 150 researchers working in the broad field of data science across faculties and research groups at Hasselt University. DSI's main objective is to facilitate the data-driven future. We are committed to data-related challenges, fundamental innovations and applicable solutions.

Your talents

  • You obtained a master's degree in statistics, data science or a related field with a strong emphasis on data analysis. (or equivalent)
  • You feel responsible for the tasks assigned to you.
  • You work analytically and have a structural understanding.
  • You work accurately and pay attention to order and punctuality.
  • You work proactively and accurately, ensuring a high-quality end result.
  • You are able to present and report on project results clearly.
  • You are enterprising and show initiative.
  • You are cooperative and can work well in teams.
  • You are customer-oriented and communicate appropriately with different audiences.
  • You communicate fluently in English, both orally and in writing.

Our offer for you

You will be appointed and paid as Researcher.
We offer a one-year contract. Extension is possible.
