Content

In this hands-on workshop you'll discover how to use generative AI tools for academic writing. We'll begin with an introduction to generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) and Large Language Models (LLMs), to give you a clear understanding of how these models work and what their key strengths and weaknesses are. Next, through a series of practical demonstrations and interactive exercises, you’ll learn how to apply generative AI across the main stages of academic research, from idea generation to manuscript drafting and refinement. Finally, we’ll explore strategies to deal with the key challenges of these tools, such as their tendency to generate inaccurate or misleading information and discuss strategies for using them responsibly.

Learning outcomes

After having attended this workshop, you will...

  • have more insights in how generative AI can be used in the context of academic writing,
  • know what tools exist, how they can be used and what the risks and opportunities are.

    • innovativeness
    • critical judgement
    • analytical thinking
    • conceptual/synthetic thinking
