Empowering research and researchers: A journal club for inclusive research practices

05 December 2025 - 19 December 2025
5x3h
campus Diepenbeek

Content

Are you looking to design more inclusive research? Do you want to explore how to ethically and practically include vulnerable or hard-to-reach groups in your work?
In this journal club, we explore inclusive research designs across disciplines. Through five structured sessions led by expert moderators and guest speakers, participants will critically engage with recent articles and real-world practices that highlight inclusive and participatory approaches in research.

Topics include:

  • Kick-off & Introduction to Inclusive Research Designs
  • How to Apply Inclusive Designs in Your Research
  • Reaching Vulnerable Groups & Creating Societal Impact
  • Open, Citizen, Inclusive or Participatory Science: What's in a Name?
  • From Theory to Practice: Closing Discussion and Reflections

Each session includes a keynote by an invited speaker, followed by an in-depth discussion of a selected article. Lunch and networking will close each meeting.

Learning outcomes

After attending this course, participants will...

  • gain insight into inclusive research methodologies
  • learn to critically evaluate research practices involving diversity and participation
  • enhance their ability to ethically engage with stakeholders
