Content

This short course, given by dr. Noémie Aubert Bonn, introduces topics of publication ethics and provides ideas on how to increase transparency and openness in science.

Covered topics include authorship, research integrity (plagiarism, duplication, selective reporting), pre-registration, preprints, open access and open data, predatory publishers, publication metrics, and peer-reviewing.

The course comprises two sets of recorded theoretical sessions and two online discussion sessions to answer questions and to reflect upon the materials provided.

There are five editions, with 14 places available per edition.

Learning outcomes

After attending this course, participants will …

  • be aware of the issues affecting scientific publications,
  • understand the limits of current research evaluations using scientific publications as an indicator of success,
  • know of existing resources to increase the integrity of scientific publishing.

  • The recorded theoretical sessions (2 x 1.5h) will be made available one week before each discussion session.
  • The workshop will be organized digitally. If selected to participate, you will receive the necessary details timely.

  • If selected to participate, you will be assigned to one of the five editions based on your availability (which you will need to indicate when registering). Please read the confirmation email carefully, to make sure you attend the right session.
