Every year, the Computer Service Department of UHasselt, in collaboration with PXL, offers two laptops with a very beneficial price-quality ratio.

This year we are offering up-to-date HP business models. The average student can use this laptop to run powerful applications without any worries for at least four years. You will also enjoy it for your personal needs.

UHasselt does everything it can to keep your investment as low as possible. After all, in addition to the price for the laptop, it also is a good idea to invest in an extended warranty. Nowadays, an extra warranty is not an unnecessary service.

An important asset is our laptop service that is available at the university. Each day experienced employees are at your service to help you.

Service Pack

In the total price of the laptops there is besides the price of the laptop itself a service pack included.  This service pack for the HP laptops includes the following:

  • An additional warranty against accidental damage and theft during the first year.
  • A identification sticker (with the UHasselt-logo and a unique security code) that provides guarantees against theft.
  • Pre-installation of Windows 10, including the Windows Defender anti-viruspacket.

Google Suite

The standard word processing, spreadsheet and presentation tools for UHasselt are part of Google Suite. Each student gets free unlimited cloud storage as a place to save his or her documents. Doing so also makes sure you always have a back-up of your documents which you can access everywhere via your UHasselt Google account.

Microsoft Office

You can install and use a free and legal license of Microsoft Office.  It concerns a free licence of the latest version of Microsoft Office for students, with user rights for Microsoft Office Professional, only valid as long as you're enrolled at UHasselt as a student.

Microsoft Access is not available to MAC-users.  Windows emulation software can be used to run programs that are only available for Windows on a Mac, more info.

Follow the next steps to install this free version of Office Professional on your laptop:

  • Surf to Microsoft
  • Log in with the user name and use your initial UHasselt password.  (You can find this in your student file.)
  • When you're logged in, you can download Office in the language and version (32-bit, 64-bit) of your choice.

You can do this for maximum 5 pc's/laptops with this licence.

Order, Pay, Collect


You can only order a laptop from the UHasselt group purchase via the webshop.  This means that a laptop can only be ordered by students or employees of Hasselt University.
Invoicing will always be done in the name of the Hasselt University student or employee, invoicing in the name of a company or stating a VAT number is not possible.


Students have 2 options for paying for the laptop:

  • Integral the full amount before collection of the laptop. The full amount must be paid by bank transfer with structured communication. The guidelines for this will be sent by e-mail when ordering.
  • Payment by installment AFTER your application has been approved by the social services.
    Download the application form from your student file. The completed and signed application form, together with all required attachments, must be sent to the social services of UHasselt, attn. Liesbeth Huber. The social service will work out a payment plan in consultation with you.


After receipt of your payment, you can check your order in the webshop, in order to see when you can pick up the laptop at Campusboekhandel XOD in Diepenbeek. With an approved payment plan, the collection is possible after receipt of the first installment.

Collection is only possible on presentation of your valid student card.

Laptop on loan

If you are a student in a very exceptional and temporary situation which makes it impossible for you to purchase a laptop, you may be able to claim a laptop on loan from UHasselt for a certain period of time.

FAQ Warranty Conditions and Licenses

What does the 3-year extended Next Business Day On-site warranty include?

This is a warranty for 3 years, next-business day on-site international. This means that in the event of a hardware defect, the laptop will be repaired the next working day by a technician on site at the customer (at home or at the student's flat or on campus or at any specified address), even if the laptop is located in another country (internationally ).

However, we recommend that in the event of a hardware problem, you contact the UHasselt Service Desk via the Self Service Portaal.

Excluded from this standard warranty is damage that is the result of accidental damage (for example, obviously dropping the laptop) and/or theft of the laptop.

What exactly does a 3 year AppleCare for the MacBook mean?

This is a 3 year carry-in warranty on the hardware. The laptop must be taken to an authorized Apple repair point for repair.

What exactly does the extra guarantee from Hasselt University mean?

To cover the damage that is excluded from the warranty, UHasselt provides an extra warranty that is valid for one year after purchase.

In the event that this deposit is invoked, UHasselt applies a personal contribution/exemption of € 125.00 per claim, increased to € 250.00 for the damage related to "loss and disappearance". This personal contribution/exemption is at the expense of the owner of the laptop.

Why an identification sticker?

An identification sticker (with the UHasselt logo and a unique security code) is part of the service pack.

This provides better protection for the laptop against theft. The security code on the sticker is registered by Hasselt University, so that the laptop may be found after theft.

What support is provided by the helpdesk on the UHasselt laptop?

The Service Desk offers students standard software support, namely reinstallation of the Windows 10 Home image and resolution of connection problems with the UHasselt wireless network.

The student remains responsible at all times for having a backup of his/her data.
