Does the Conference pear still have a future in Limburg in 2050?

Pears In The Ecotron Pears In The Ecotron
After three years of research, the QPear project is now providing its first insights into how pear quality and production may evolve by 2050 under a changing climate. Climate scenarios for 2040 and 2050 indicate that pear production in Limburg remains viable; however, targeted adaptation measures are needed.

These findings offer valuable guidance for climate‑resilient fruit production and underscore the importance of science‑based decision‑making for agriculture at both the regional and European levels.

Launched in autumn 2022, the QPear project examines how future climate conditions may affect:
  • the growth and physiology of pear trees
  • pear quality
  • the functioning of pear orchard agri‑ecosystems
