OSCAR-BLINQ is the Belgian National Payload to accompany the next Belgian astronaut Raphaël Liégeois on his stay aboard the International Space Station! The project is an all-Belgian consortium led by the OSCAR team with BIRA (Belgian institute of royal aeronomy) and UCLouvain.
In this project we are making a new sensor to demonstrate diamond quantum sensing technology beyond its magnetometry application. This step in the OSCAR journey utilizes our sensor as a platform for a more advanced application - study of molecular kinetics in microgravity. The project is not only an advancement in terms of technology, but also interdisciplinarity. The consortium behind the OSCAR-BLINQ project is a collaboration across Belgium between UHasselt (quantum sensing technology), BIRA-IASB (fundamental science) and UCLouvain (photochemistry).
