IUMAT solar technology drives Innoptus Solar Team to historic US Victory

Historic victory in the US: the Innoptus Solar Team becomes the first European team ever to win the prestigious Elektrec American Solar Challenge.

The team covered more than 4,000 kilometers from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Amarillo, Texas, tackling extreme heat and tough road conditions along the Mississippi and historic Route 66. 

At IUMAT, we are incredibly proud of our PV research group, which supported the team in the development, testing and assembly of the solar energy system driving their winning car. Seeing cutting-edge solar research turn into world-class performance on the road is what drives us every day.
