Gijs Verschaeve obtained his bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of Hasselt in 2023. For his following master’s degree he went to TU Eindhoven, joining the Nano, Quantum and Photonics track of their Applied Physics Master program. During this time, Gijs focused on quantum-related courses, earning him an additional certificate in Quantum Technology. For his master's thesis, he joined the AND group of Prof. Erik Bakkers, where he researched the detection of topological surface states in SnTe nanowires. In 2025 he completed his master’s thesis and joined the OOE group at IMO to pursue a Ph.D. in physics. The main target of his research is to create chiral organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and measure the circularly polarised light they emit.
