Blended education with collections from life and environmental sciences: a case study for the development of virtually supported collection-based didactics (Education)

Abstract

The study of physical specimens, through practicals, forms an integral part of courses in the environmental and life sciences. Despite recent teaching innovations, practicals are still organised in a classical way. In this IEP, we are creating an interactive learning environment to study physical specimens digitally as well. This digital collection will strengthen the interaction between practice and theory, so this will not detract from the role of practicals in courses. The proposed platform will involve results from Uhasselt research in education and will showcase and share UHasselt educational innovation with international (South) partners.
