Title
The usage of AI- and automated systems for recruitment and selection in Belgium and the awareness of the gender discrimination risks related to their use. (Research)
Abstract
The introduction of artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming human resource management. Especially within recruitment and selection, AI is increasingly being used to support or even take over the tasks of recruiters. The idea is that this technology can make these processes not only more efficient, but also more objective, as they make choices more evidence-based and through far-reaching process standardization. However, existing research suggests that the use of AI may reinforce discrimination rather than reduce it. Against the backdrop of these conflicting claims, it is essential to empirically investigate the use of AI for recruitment & selection.
Through a socio-material analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, this study aims to gain a deeper understanding of the use of AI by recruiters in Belgium and examines the extent to which recruiters and developers are aware of risks of (intersectional) gender discrimination when using such technologies.
