Ultra-High performance Liquid chromatography for taking the next steps in complex mixture composition analysis (Research)

The purchase of a new ultra-high performance liquid chromatography setup positions imo-imomec and UHasselt at the forefront of the ongoing progress in materials science. This advanced infrastructure opens up the possibilities to decipher the entire (bio-)chemical composition of complex samples while also allowing to track down trace levels of target contaminants and pollutants. The enhanced separation power and new detection possibilities are expected to reveal interactions between metabolites and materials for heathcare applications, elucidate the intricate equilibria between challenging wastestreams and adsorbents, guide purification and conversion pathways in biorefinery processes and even support the development of novel fluorophoric compounds for organic electronics. In addition, these new capabilities will fuel innovations in the local industry, as novel methodologies and know-how will be transferred to scientific servicing and consultancy.
